Choosing Generic Vs Branded Duac

X

Generic medicines contain the same active ingredient and are equally effective and medically equivalent as the branded products but are available at a lower price. Generic manufacturers have to demonstrate that they are medically identical to the branded product - i.e. they offer the same quality, strength, stability and effectiveness.

Generic medicines are required meet the same standards of safety, quality and efficacy as the branded medication. To receive market approval from the European Medicines Agency and MHRA, a generic medicine must be 'bioequivalent' to the originator product.

What is Duac?

What Is Duac?

Duac is a treatment for mild to moderate acne. It comes in gel form and contains two main ingredients - clindamycin, an antibiotic; and benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial and keratolytic (peeling) agent, which reduces acne causing bacteria and reduces blackheads and whiteheads.

How do I use Duac?

Gently wash the affected area with a mild cleanser and make sure the skin is completely dry afterward. Apply a small amount of gel to the entire affected area/s each evening and rub in. If the gel does not easily rub into the skin then you are using too much. You should wash your hands after each application. Allow the gel to dry on the skin, do not wash it off.

How long will it take to work?

You would expect to see improvement of your acne after 2-5 weeks of daily use, with the maximum benefit being seen in around 8-12 weeks. Treatment should only be continued up to a maximum of 12 weeks.

How do I store Duac?

Before purchase, Duac will be stored in the refrigerator. However, once you receive the item it can be stored out of the fridge, up to 25°C. Duac must be discarded after 2 months.

Side Effects

Side Effects

During the initial few weeks of treatment, most people will experience an increase in skin peeling and reddening of the affected area. This should lessen over time. Benzoyl Peroxide, one of the main ingredients in Duac, increases your sensitivity to the sun and sunlamps, so excessive or prolonged sun exposure while using Duac should be avoided.

"Simple, fast, confidential"
By Shanice on 06 June 2019

Product:

I’ve been prescribed this by a doctor, it’s easy to use, and doesn’t have a weird smell like other treatments such as Zineryt It’s very effective at treating and drying up acne, and preventing further acne developing It does however stain materials, but this is clearly stated on the packaging

Service:

It’s really easy to order, the reason I go through MedExpress rather than my doctors is how easy it is, the online consultation is very easy to follow. Other websites before have asked for photos of my acne, which is embarrassing and not something I’m readily able to provide as I wear makeup during the day. The delivery was fast, and I was very happy with the service received.

"Great service and worth the money!"
By Rachel (London) on 25 April 2017

Product:

Duac cream has been a miracle in a tube. Give suffered with hormonal acne for a year and this just clears it right up. It'll take 5-7 days for your skin to get used to it, it'll feel tickly/itchy the first few days. I've found it is helping to reduce my oily complextion although not sure if this is just while using it. Remember to keep it refrigerated as it's an antibiotic and it's best used at night.

Service:

I found the medicine I needed and I was confident I was being asked the right questions to check my suitability for the prescription. It arrived within a few days and I could see it had been authorised by a pharmacist.
